Description

Recover # 07 originates in a figurative painting from 2005, depicting a chocolate-coated confection known in Germany at the time as a Negerkuss. The word remained part of my own history, recalling the treats I bought during my school years for 50 Pfennig. I retained the original term on the back of the painting as a personal trace of that time. Initially, I numbered my reworkings; only later did I begin giving them titles that reflected their evolving identities. Recover # 07 is a characteristic example of 25 Colours Stockholm, where earlier works are revisited, reinterpreted and brought into the present, allowing their histories to remain active within new layers of meaning.
