    Description

    I created Fem Färger as a group of five paintings, each measuring 70 × 60 cm. Their titles are inspired by the hand-painted floating frames, which I consider an integral part of every work. Some of the paintings evolved over a long period of time, while others found their final form through a more reduced visual language. Together, they reflect different ways of arriving at a painting.

    Description

    I created Fem Färger as a series of five paintings, each measuring 70 × 60 cm. Their titles are inspired by the hand-painted floating frames, which are an essential part of every work. Three paintings evolved over time, while two reached their final form through a deliberately reduced approach. Together, they reflect the different rhythms of my painting process.

In Gugu No. 1, the handwritten note „ain’t no clouds!“ remains subtly embedded in the surface, like a quiet trace of the painting’s own history.

    Description

    Heavy Runner evolved over many years. First painted in 2003 for the exhibition b-present, I revisited the work several times before it found its present form as part of a new phase in my practice. Some paintings need time. Heavy Runner has remained in my studio ever since and is featured in my book Of Hares and Gods.

The work reconnects with ideas first explored in my abstract portraits Momentum and Speculum (2005), continuing a recurring thread within my practice. It belongs to a group of paintings shaped by simplicity, balance and the expressive power of restraint.

    Description

    This painting was created in 2023 as part of Tina Oelker’s new, or rather occasionally recurring, minimalist style on a brown background. In this way, she also connects to her abstract portraits from 2005: Momentum and Speculum. It is part of a series of works created in this minimalist style.

    2023 entstand dieses Bild im Zuge der für Tina Oelker neuen, bzw. immer mal wieder auftauchenden eher minimalistischen Malerei auf braunem Hintergrund. Sie knüpft auf diese Weise auch an die 2005 schon einmal entstandenen abstrakten Porträts an: Momentum und Speculum. Es ist Teil einer Serie mehrerer Werke, die in diesem minimalistischen Stil geschaffen wurden.
